Cowboys extend Randy Gregory despite indefinite suspension

first_imgThe Cowboys don’t know if Randy Gregory will take the field in 2019, but they do know they want him beyond thatDallas signed the troubled 26-year-old defensive end Tuesday through the 2020 season, NFL Media reported, although he was handed an indefinite suspension in February for his fourth violation of the NFL’s Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse and for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement. Dallas traded for Robert Quinn and signed him to a new deal Monday to shore up its defensive line. The move buys the organization time to salvage as much of Gregory’s career as possible.“I don’t think you can count on him right now,” Garrett said of Gregory. “Hopefully we’ve built our team up to the point where we don’t have these blatant needs. … There’s certainly a point [you cut ties] with different players. We don’t think we’re at that point with Randy right now.“He’ll continue to work and try to get professional help for his issues. I do believe he’s made great strides in this area and the way it’s been explained to me is sometimes, relapse is part of rehab. I think that’s something he’ll continue to work through.” NFL trade rumors: Don’t count out Redskins on Josh Rosen According to the report, $310,000 of his 2019 salary was converted into a signing bonus. The deal includes a one-year salary of $735,000 with incentives that could boost the total.Prior to his suspension, Gregory was in stage three of the substance-abuse program and subject to testing up to 10 times a month, as well as regular re-evaluations of his clinical resources. A violation in stage three calls for a suspension of one calendar year. Randy is a good young man. He has some issues he has been dealing with … head on from Day 1. He spent a lot of time getting professional help.“We will continue to try to support him and provide a good structure.”Gregory has struggled with off-field issues since college and has played in just 28 games since being drafted by Dallas in 2015. He most recently had six sacks in 14 games for the Cowboys in 2018.last_img read more

The event includes guided walks, an activity trail with informative stations, a hayride, and a self-guided interpretative loop. The informative stations include topics such as prairie ecology, restoration, management of invasive plants, and the wildlife and wildflowers found in this unique landscape. The stations have experts to discuss each topic as well as activities for children and the young at heart. This is your chance to make seed balls and wind wands, and try your hands at writing with ink made from oak galls.Children engage in activities learning about the use of prescribed fires on the South Sound Prairies at Prairie Appreciation Day 2015. Credit: Carola TejedaThere will be plenty of opportunities to observe and photograph wildlife, including endangered species such as Taylor’s checkerspot butterflies and golden paintbrush. This is also a great time to capture the beauty of the prairies in full bloom; the prairies will be spangled with swaths of blue camas with accents of spring gold, buttercups, Oregon sunshine, and many more native flowers.  Glacial Heritage Preserve is generally not open to the public so this is a rare opportunity to experience a premier preserve. Please note that food will not be available at the event, and water will only be available in limited quantities. You are welcome to bring a picnic, but please leave all pets at home, as they are not allowed on the preserve. We will also be accepting donations for Thurston County Food Bank, no glass please.Wildflower blooms at Thurston’s County Glacial Heritage Preserve.
