ST. LOUIS – The Drake University men’s soccer team placed a league-high four student-athletes on the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete First Team while two student-athletes earned Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention accolades, the league office announced Monday morning. This is the first MVC scholar-athlete accolade for Enna, who played in 16 matches and was second on the team in goals scored with five. A forward, Enna, added one assist and finished with 11 points, which ranked second on the squad. He holds a 3.55 GPA in business studies. Seniors James Grunert (Muskego, Wis.), Ben LeMay (Hugo, Minn.), Mueng Sunday (Coralville, Iowa) and James Wypych (Wellington, New Zealand) were each selected to the first team for the second-consecutive season. Junior Steven Enna (Overland Park, Kan.) and senior Darrin MacLeod (Waterloo, Ontario) round out Drake’s honorees as they each collected honorable mention honors for the first time in their respective careers. This is also the first career MVC scholar-athlete honor for MacLeod, a goalkeeper, who is the all-time leader in program history in games (76), minutes (6940:22), saves (308), shutouts (19) and wins (33). He was named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS award this season. MacLeod owns a 3.50 GPA in health sciences. Print Friendly Version LeMay played in 16 matches with 14 starts and scored two goals and recorded one assist. He is also a two-time COSIDA All-District IV selection and owns a 3.78 GPA in pharmacy. Grunert started 15 matches for Drake and scored one goal and handed out one assist. He is a two-time COSIDA All-District IV selection who holds a 3.79 grade point average in health sciences. Grunert also earned scholar-athlete honorable mention accolades in 2014. Sunday, a midfielder, earned All-MVC First Team honors for the second-straight year after he started 18-of-19 matches and scored two goals and handed one assist. He was named to the prestigious MAC Hermann watch list prior to the season. Sunday holds a 3.65 GPA in finance. Wypych was named to the All-MVC First Team in each of his three seasons at Drake. The forward, who transferred from New Mexico prior to the 2014 season, scored a team-leading eight goals, handed out a team-high five assists and tallied a team-best 21 points this season. Wypych is also a two-time COSIDA All-District selection who owns a 3.57 GPA in international relations.
