Meals on Wheels preps for inclement weather

first_imgClark County — Meals on Wheels People, the regional nonprofit providing meals to home-bound seniors, is planning for upcoming winter weather.Drivers will deliver a two-day supply of shelf-stable meals later this month to more than 3,000 participants in Clark, Multnomah and Washington counties, the nonprofit said Wednesday. These meals are to be used when the weather is so severe that most drivers cannot deliver meals. The shelf-stable meals include applesauce, fruit bars, juice and two packaged entrees. Participants will be instructed to save these meals until Meals on Wheels People calls them, advising them to eat the emergency food.Even in those situations, some emergency weather drivers will be available to reach home-bound elderly who don’t have any food. Those interested in volunteering as an emergency weather driver can visit volunteer.mealsonwheelspeople.org or call Catie at 503-953-8101.last_img read more
