Southland, Southeastern Louisiana Receive Sports Media Production Accolades

first_imgFRISCO, Texas –The Southland Conference and member school Southeastern Louisiana each have submissions that are finalists for 2019 SVG College Sports Media Awards (CSMA), presented by Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).  The league is being represented in Atlanta by Associate Commissioner Chris Mycoskie, who manages the league’s broadcasting operations and serves on the SVG College Advisory Board. “We are pleased that the quality of work within the Southland is being recognized by the SVG CSMA,” said Southland Commissioner Tom Burnett. “We continue to raise the bar with our broadcasts and the recognition we receive nationally is gratifying. It is a great combined effort at both the league and institutional levels.” Southeastern Louisiana and the Southeastern Channel, a multiple Emmy award-winning student broadcast operation, is also a finalist in the “Outstanding Live Non-Game Production” category for collegiate students with its “The Big Game – Pick and Roll” video. The Southland is one of five selections in the “Outstanding Live Game Production” category among Collegiate Conferences and Governing Bodies for its November 10, 2018, production of the McNeese at Northwestern State football game. The contest, streamed on ESPN3, was a double-overtime thriller that the Demons won 37-34. The entry is up against other productions from fellow Division I conferences the Atlantic Coast, Patriot League, Sun Belt and West Coast.center_img The crew that night at Turpin Stadium included producer Mike Watts, director Travis Brancel and technical director Gordon Moneyhan. Jeff Palermo provided play-by-play descriptions, alongside College Football Hall of Fame inductee and former NSU student-athlete Gary Reasons as color analyst. Taylor Verrico served as sideline reporter. The other, “Southland Strong,” highlighted the virtues of the 13-school league and was filmed at the annual Student-Athlete Advisory Council retreat in Frisco. The selection of finalists was announced last week, and winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the ninth-annual College Sports Media Awards ceremony on Thursday at the SVG College Summit in Atlanta.last_img
