Kayley, 11, is a sixth grade student at Windsor Preparatory School in western New Providence. Shortly before the holidays, Kayley wrote to her teacher, Mrs. Courtnee Romer, sharing her excitement about the holidays, telling her she could “hardly wait to see the bright lights and the awesome Christmas trees all beautifully decorated.”She confessed she was especially excited about opening her presents and then she stole her teacher’s heart with these words: “As we at Windsor prepare to have our Christmas celebrations, I can’t help but think of all those children who are less fortunate than I. That’s why this year, I would like to share an idea for a Christmas initiative called ‘A Box of Smiles.’ This year, I would like to invite my class to help me give to the children at The Children’s Emergency Hostel. It would be nice to help put a smile on their faces. Instead of exchanging gifts, we can use the money ($25-$30) to buy small items that can fit into a box, the size of a shoe box. Some of the items can be coloring books, boxes of crayons, card games, pencils, pens, erasers, small toys etc. Each student will decorate and fill their own box personalized for one child at the Hostel.”She also asked if each student in the class could make a Christmas card with a note to the recipient and include it in the box. She offered to decorate a drop box and with the teacher’s permission, she would start the collection process.“All of us have so much to be thankful for and I believe that it would be so beautiful to make this Christmas a very special one for these children,” Kayley wrote and her teacher’s approval was instant.Over 20 shoe boxes from just about all of her classmates came pouring in along with cards and gifts and on December 18, one week before Kayley would be opening her own presents in a family home with a mother, father and two siblings. Kayley and her mom delivered the gifts to children who would not be spending that special day of the year like the Simons but would know that someone – many someones – remembered them and cared. They would know that the season meant love.Press Release: DPA News Related Items:

Now we need to lose as few points as possible,” he said.Karsdorp reveals he had too much stress at Roma Manuel R. Traffic relief promised to defense workers at the Mark Center, which opened in August 2011 to house thousands of DOD civilians kicked out of leased space in nearby Arlington following the last BRAC round, arrived last week after the Virginia Department of Transportation opened a high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) ramp on I-395 in Alexandria. While the opening of the Mark Center did not disrupt commuters as much as originally feared, the addition of 6,400 workers in Alexandria has exacerbated congestion in the area. The reversible ramp will provide a direct connection for HOV drivers heading to and from the Mark Center, reported the Washington Post. Only buses and vehicles with three or more occupants will be able to use the ramp. The new ramp is part of a set of VDOT projects designed to ease congestion and provide easier access to the Mark Center. The final piece of the $76 million project is a pedestrian bridge over I-395, expected to open next month.State and local leaders had opposed the Pentagon’s decision to relocate workers to the Mark Center site due to its lack of access to Metrorail and accused the department of relying on flawed traffic data when it selected the location at the intersection of Seminary Road and I-395. The Swiss legend defeated arch-rival Rafael Nadal to qualify for the final whereas Djoker defeated Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the last four.Preview and prediction Federer.Al Bello/Getty ImagesAfter having a shaky start to the tournament, the journey of the Swiss legend has been more or less smooth. In the quarter-final clash against Kei Nishikori, the 37-year-old had a major hiccup in the first set as the Japanese broke him once and won the set. But after the first set was over the audience experienced vintage Federer play as he won the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. The best of Federer came out in the match against arch-rival Rafael Nadal. After winning the hard-fought first set he was demolished in the second by the Spaniard. But the veteran player bounced back in the third set onwards and won the match 7-6, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. His backhand shots were perfect and he won most of the rallies with dominance. The Swiss legend also committed less number of unforced errors and did not let his opponent take an upper hand over him in the match. He is definitely the biggest contender to lift the trophy. Novak Djokovic.Matthew Stockman/Getty ImagesNovak Djokovic is enjoying the form of his life at the All England Club. He has lost just two sets in the whole tournament and has started every match slowly before pouncing onto the opponent. He faced a little bit of heat against Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz in his third-round fixture. In his semi-final match against Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, he looked much more dominant of the two. He lost the second set but did not let his opponent stand a chance against him in the next two sets winning the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. He definitely has the upper hand over the ageing Federer and he is the current world number one also. The match is going to be a hard-fought one and could lead to a five-set decider. Federer will want to win it by maximum four sets whereas the Joker will look forward to taking it to the fifth set as he knows that his older opponent will have problems. Isis is using the internet better than we are using the internet. Image Credt: ABCNews Advertisement Donald Trump has committed to his plan to ban the internet, and has laid out the details of how he intends to do so.The Republican presidential hopeful said last week that he intended to shut down parts of the internet so that they could no longer be used by children. The technology is being used by Isis to radicalise young people and so be shut down, he claimed, and Mr Trump said that he would speak to Bill Gates about “closing it up”.That plan appears to have been walked back, with Mr Trump only threatening that he would close down certain sections of the internet. He said during a debate between Republican presidential hopefuls that he would simply close “areas where we are war with somebody” so that they can’t “use our internet”. – Advertisement – Mr Trump was pressed on the issue by moderator Wolf Blitzer, who asked: “Are you referring to closing down actual portions of the internet? Some say that would put the US in line with China and North Korea.”“Well look, this is so easy to answer,” Mr Trump said. He once again dismissed criticisms that the plan would threaten freedom of speech, saying: “You talk freedom of speech, you talk freedom of whatever you want, I don’t want them using our internet to take our young impressionable youth”.Mr Trump said that “Isis is using the internet better than we are using the internet, and it was [the US’s] idea”.He then went on to detail a plan that consisted of two parts: getting “brilliant people from Silicon Valley and other places” and asking them to shut parts of the internet, and also asking people to “penetrate” it.Mr Trump said last week that the plan would involve getting smart people like Bill Gates to help him close down the internet. He said during the debate that he would look to use “brilliant people from Silicon Valley and other places, and figure out a way that Isis cannot do what they’re doing”.Asked whether that meant that he would look to close down parts of the internet, by Wolf Blitzer, Mr Trump committed to the policy.[related-posts]“I would certainly be open to areas where we are at war with somebody,” he said. “I sure as hell don’t want to let people that want to kill us and kill our nation use our internet”.Mr Trump then said that he would also ask the same people to “penetrate the internet”, so that they could “find out exactly where Isis and everything about Isis”.“And we can do that if we use our good people,” he claimed.[The Independent ]
