For Ruben “Ratón” Ayala, CONMEBOL’s decision to take the Copa Libertadores Final to Spain was not the correct oneFormer Atletico Madrid and Argentina national team forward Ruben “Ratón” Ayala is not happy that the Copa Libertadores Final will take place in Spain. The second leg of this match was postponed twice on November 24 and 25 after some River Plate fans attacked Boca Juniors’ bus.And then CONMEBOL decided it will be played outside Argentina, in Real Madrid’s house: Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.“I didn’t like it,” Ayala told a Ronaldo.com reporter.“The reality is, this is a match that had to be played in River’s stadium or in Estadio Nacional [Uruguay] or in Palmeira’s stadium [Brazil].”Match Preview: River Plate vs Boca Juniors Boro Tanchev – September 1, 2019 It is time for one of the most intense derby games in the world, as River Plate and Boca Juniors go head-to-head tonight at 22:00 (CET).“It is very complicated because playing in Madrid will be very difficult, at least this is what I think,” he explained.“I think Boca and River will play while frustrated. Wired’s Gadget Lab blog reports that Jobs said developers have earned more than $2 billion from app sales and Apple generated $9.5 billion in iPad revenue. Apple also designed a Smart Cover for the tablet ($39 for polyurethane or $69 for leather), which attaches with a self-aligning magnetic hinge and folds back to form a pedestal to prop up the iPad. iPad 2 models are available with AT&T or Verizon networks. Pricing is similar to the previous version: $499 for the 16GB wi-fi model, $599 for the 32GB, and $699 for the 64GB. Add the 3G and pricing jumps to $629, $729 and $829. The Verizon wi-fi/3G model will be available only in the U.S. The iPad 2 is scheduled to ship March 11. Apple simultaneously announced that Random House is making its full catalog of 17,000 ebooks available in the iBookstore, which, says the company, now offers content from 2,500 publishers. Apple unveiled the iPad 2 today. As a host of new tablet devices are making their way into the market, Apple needed to make a significant jump ahead in performance and functionality. Key upgrades include a 33 percent thinner design that makes the new tablet 15 percent lighter while keeping the same screen size. Customers can choose between black or white versions. The device ships with Apple’s dual-core A5 processor and the company’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 4.3. CPU speed is reportedly 2 times faster and graphics are rendered up to 9 times faster.According to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the company has sold more than 15 million iPads so far, and the iPad 2 has taken on more interactive characteristics. The device has front and rear cameras, allowing traditional camera functionality along with the ability to use Apple’s video chat feature, FaceTime.iMovie and GarageBand apps, at $4.99 each, launched along with the new tablet, which allow users more media recording and editing capabilities-pushing the device into a content creation realm, not just a passive reading/watching experience. In a press event held today, Jobs pointed out that there are now more than 350,000 apps available with more than 65,000 that are native to the iPad.
Amazon Japan apparently isn’t directly selling Huawei’s products anymore. Kazuhiro Nogi / AFP / Getty Images The Amazon Japan store became the latest entity to ice out Huawei by removing all its products from direct sale, a Nikkei report said Friday.Despite the end of direct sales, Amazon Japan customers can still buy Huawei phones, tablets and PCs through third-party sellers in the online marketplace, Nikkei noted. The Chinese company’s devices were listed as out of stock for direct sale in the wake of the US blacklisting Huawei last week. President Donald Trump signed an executive order effectively banning the company from doing business with US companies or governments based on national security concerns over Huawei’s close ties with the Chinese government. In the US, Microsoft also reportedly removed Huawei MateBook laptops from its online store.Neither Amazon nor Huawei immediately responded to requests for comment.First published at 5:53 a.m. PT.Update, 6:23 a.m.: Adds more detail. $60 at Best Buy Lenovo 130-15AST 15.6-inch laptop: $210 (save $90) Though not technically a Labor Day sale, it’s happening during Labor Day sale season — and it’s too good not to share. Wait — no, I’m not. As much as I respect the original intent of the holiday (which became official back in 1894), to most of us, it’s just a bonus day off — one that’s blissfully tacked onto a weekend. So, yeah, stores; go ahead, run your sales. I’m listening. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Labor Day doesn’t bring out bargains to compete with the likes of Black Friday (which will be here before you know it), but there are definitely some sales worth your time. For example:We’ve rounded up the best Labor Day mattress deals. We’ve also gathered the best Labor Day laptop deals at Best Buy.The 2019 Vizio P Series Quantum is back under $999.Be sure to check out Amazon’s roughly three dozen Labor Day deals on TVs and audio. However, I strongly recommend paying an extra $50 to upgrade that display to FHD (1,920×1,080), because you’re not likely to be happy with the native 1,366×768 resolution. Kolkata: The city witnessed two separate road accidents on Sunday morning that could have turned fatal had they taken place in the rush hours. It was around 4.40 am when a private car hit a light post on Southern Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the car had lost control and the vehicle hit the light post. The front portion of the vehicle was damaged. Another accident took place near Zoological Garden at Alipore in which a car moved onto the pavement after the driver suddenly fell ill. According to the police, it was a narrow escape from a major accident as the car moved onto the pavement that remains congested in the rush hours. The car was headed towards Vidyasagar Setu from Chetla side. There were two persons sitting on the rear seats of the car. They found that the driver was feeling unwell and soon he lost control on the vehicle and it went up onto the pavement. The passengers sprinkled water on the driver’s face and he was finally taken to hospital in another car.
Let’s be honest: HR is a pain. Especially at growing companies, there’s an almost endless number of forms to fill out, regulations to parse and roles to fill. That mess of administrative work is why HR management outsourcing is on the rise. When there are sales to make and products to build, leaders simply don’t have time to deal with arcane laws and health insurance issues. With that said, many young companies can’t afford to hire HR partners. Founders in those circumstances may be stuck processing payroll themselves, but they can lean on technology for one of the most tedious areas of HR: benefits administration. If your team wants new-age benefits like office pool tables — or hairy, traditional ones like health insurance — you’ll have to handle those yourself. But there are plenty of other perks they can manage straight from their smartphones:1. PTOManually tracking paid time off might work when you’ve got one or two workers, but it’s a headache and a half across an entire team. Not only do leaders not have time to answer questions like “How much time off do I have left?” but they risk PTO overlaps that result in staffing shortages.Although managers still need to approve PTO requests submitted through automated systems, tools like BambooHR let employees make requests via email and their mobile devices. BambooHR also offers a Who’s Out Calendar, which shows at a glance which team members are scheduled for time off when. Best of all, BambooHR can be customized to accommodate policies like unlimited PTO, location- or department-specific accrual rates and paternity leave.Related: I Was a Skeptic, Now I am Convinced Unlimited PTO Is Good for Business2. Student loan repaymentCollectively, Americans hold nearly $1.4 trillion in student loan debt, averaging more than $37,000 per borrower. To attract new grads burdened by debt, companies are offering repayment benefits. But because of the sensitivity of financial data, employees aren’t always comfortable sharing their student loan details. On top of that, every borrower’s debt is structured differently, which makes an across-the-board benefit difficult to administer. To simplify debt repayment, FutureFuel.io’s mobile app aggregates loans into a dashboard that integrates with popular HR platforms. Employers can make monthly payments toward team members’ debts, and employees themselves can round up payments directly from their paychecks. And in some cases, FutureFuel.io’s refinancing marketplace means both you and your indebted grads can save thousands of dollars on interest across the lifetime of a loan.Related: Why You Should Care About Student Loan Debt3. Wellness coachingStudies show mixed results on the effectiveness of employee wellness programs, but employers clearly see enough value to continue offering them. What employers don’t find valuable about wellness programs, unfortunately, is the amount of time it takes to administer them. Who has time to host a fitness challenge or a seminar on healthy eating when they’ve got a company to grow?Instead of trying to lead a wellness program yourself, set workers up with a platform like CoreHealth. The companion MyWellApp offers an activity log, a step counter and updates on company-specific challenges. Users receive educational content that offers tips on everything from stretching to cooking methods. They can also access partner services, such as smoking cessation programs and life skills coaching, discreetly and without a referral from their healthcare provider.Related: Eight Strategies to Improve Workplace Wellness4. Identity theft protectionAlthough U.S. data breaches declined modestly last year, according to the Identity Theft Resource Center, the reported number of exposed consumer records more than doubled. Sooner or later, one of those records will belong to a member of your team. When that happens, you don’t want to be dragged into the process of helping an employee regain control of all his or her breached accounts. To help team members manage their own identities, providers like Identity Force have started offering the service as an employee benefit. Identity Force’s mobile app provides a feed of alerts to notify users when their bank accounts, credit cards, email addresses, medical records and even social media profiles are compromised. When it comes to employee benefits, there’s not always an app for that. But when benefits providers do offer self-service systems, take advantage of them. More flexibility for your team, and more time for you: That’s the bottom line of app-based benefits. 4 min read This hands-on workshop will give you the tools to authentically connect with an increasingly skeptical online audience.
