Tetra Pak reduces the energy consumption of its separatorsPosted By: News Deskon: May 02, 2018In: Business, Dairy, Environment, Industries, TechnologyPrintEmailTetra Pak has reduced the energy consumption of its separators by up to 40% by incorporating Encapt pressure management technology.Encapt technology works by lowering the atmospheric pressure around the spinning bowl in separators using a low-pressure pump, and the system is supervised by sensors that keep air friction minimal, conserving energy. When combined with the AirTight design inside the bowl – an inlet at the bottom and the outlet at the top, saving the centre for outlet flow, requiring less energy – the Encapt technology makes the separators “the most energy efficient on the market”, according to Tetra Pak.Tetra Pak separators can be used for a wide variety of applications, including separating milk into cream and skim milk, clarifying juice by removing particles, treating whey and producing butter oil.The company claims that it now has a patent pending for the automation of the separators, which allows the Encapt technology to function properly.Tetra Pak product manager, Ulrika Rehn said: “We want to help customers meet the challenge of achieving superior product quality with lower operational costs, and a lower environmental footprint.“Most commonly used to separate milk or whey – the Tetra Pak Separators with Encapt technology, when paired with AirTight technology, offer incomparable energy savings.“Designed with built-in operational flexibility for different speeds and flow rates, customers can use the same line for different products, and achieve higher energy efficiencies than any other model available.“In fact, they can save around 4 million kWh during the machine’s lifespan.”Holger Lüers, general manager at Müritz Milch GmbH, within DMK group, Germany added: “This is a sophisticated combination that really works.“The AirTight technology ensures energy efficient separation and a flexible flow rate to the line during a production run. Plus, the additional energy savings brought by the low-pressure technology is a real bonus.”Share with your network: Tags: Dairyenergy efficiencytechnologyTetra Pak

The county “point-in-time count”, conducted by thousands of volunteers in January each year, is an estimate of the number of people living on the street, in tents, in cars and in shelters. The sharp increases paint a picture of a growing public health crisis in a region home to some of the richest neighborhoods and people in the US. Some key data from the report:More than 44,000 (75%) of the homeless population are unsheltered, with more than 16,000 people living in cars and more than 11,000 in tents and makeshift shelters. The number of homeless families increased by 8% to 8,800, with more than 1,600 of them unsheltered.Youth homelessness also increased by 24% to nearly 4,000, and more than half of young people are unsheltered.More than half of unsheltered adults are experiencing homelessness for the first time. The LA mayor, Eric Garcetti, called the increase “heartbreaking” in a statement. “These results remind us of a difficult truth: skyrocketing rents statewide and federal disinvestment in affordable housing, combined with an epidemic of untreated trauma and mental illness, is pushing people into homelessness faster than they can be lifted out,” he said. @SamTLevin Share on Facebook Tue 4 Jun 2019 18.32 EDT Last modified on Tue 4 Jun 2019 18.41 EDT news Email Share via Email Since you’re here… … we have a small favour to ask. A majority of the homeless people have also lived in the county for more than 10 years.“I’ve been crying out that this is a disaster of epic proportions,” said the Rev Andy Bales, CEO of Union Rescue Mission, an LA homeless organization. “Thousands upon thousands are suffering in the streets … and the longer you leave people on the streets, the more devastating it is.”The crisis has disproportionately hit black Americans, who are four times more likely to experience homelessness in LA than other groups; they represent 33% of the homeless population despite representing only 8% of the county population.Officials in LA county, which spent $619m on the crisis last year, said they had made progress in 2018, placing more than 21,000 people in homes, an increase of 23% from the previous year. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (Lahsa) also noted that the exorbitant rent increases in the area combined with stagnant wages means one-third of households now spend more than 50% of income on rent. One recent study named LA the least-affordable housing market in the country. An LA renter earning minimum wage would need to work 79 hours a week to afford a one-bedroom apartment, and the county would need more than 500,000 new affordable units to meet the needs of low-income renters.“The pressures on Angelenos are severe,” Peter Lynn, Lahsa executive director, said at a public meeting unveiling the numbers, adding that the government “can help thousands of people exit homelessness, even as thousands more fall into homeless”.Bales said his own employees could not afford to live in LA and that the crisis was “past the tipping point”, adding: “I hope this is the wake-up call.”The data was released days after the Wall Street Journal reported that developers in LA have built a surplus of lavish mansions in posh LA neighborhoods – with price tags in the tens and hundreds of millions.“The unaffordability in this city is sending more and more people on to the streets,” said Tracy Jeanne Rosenthal, co-founder of the LA Tenants Union. “What is going on is out of control rent-gouging, real estate speculation, the destruction of rent-controlled housing, and the overdevelopment of luxury [housing],” she added.Rosenthal said she was tired of seeing the homeless criminalized and harassed by police, and that public housing and expanded rent control policies were critical to allowing people to stay in their homes and in LA.Once people are evicted or pushed out due to huge rent hikes, they often have no other options for housing, she added: “If you’re evicted in Los Angeles, you’re evicted from Los Angeles. If you want to remain housed, you have to leave the city completely.” More than 59,000 people are homeless across county as housing crisis plagues California Topics Read more Tents along a street in downtown Los Angeles. Cisco Explains the Benefits of Deploying AI and Machine Learning for IT and Business Ops PRNewswireJune 11, 2019, 4:53 pmJune 11, 2019 Cisco helps IT teams better understand network behavior and predict issues with new artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities Cisco announces software innovations designed to make managing and securing networks easier. As today’s businesses increasingly invest in digital technologies, IT teams are struggling under the amplified workload. To alleviate this burden and allow IT to focus on delivering innovation, Cisco is introducing new artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to allow IT teams to function at machine speed and scale through personalized network insights. As part of its broadened capabilities offering, Cisco is also unveiling innovations to more effectively manage users and applications across the entire enterprise network – from campus networks and wide-area networks, to data centers and the IoT edge.IT teams currently face a daunting challenge. According to 451 Research, nearly two-thirds of organizations report that their IT teams are facing increased workloads; but increased IT headcount is in the cards for only about one-third of companies in the coming year. At the same time, it has never been more imperative for IT to deliver great digital experiences in this hyper-competitive landscape. Bridging the gap between the needs of a business and the resources available requires innovative network automation and analytics tools, powered by data and underpinned by artificial intelligence and machine learning.Cisco, as a leader in networking and security, collects one of the most well-informed, context-rich telemetry data sets in the IT industry. Now, Cisco is leveraging new software capabilities designed to utilize deidentified and aggregated data, which when combined with Cisco’s 35 years of institutional knowledge building the world’s networks, results in more intelligent solutions that allow IT teams to operate more effectively.Marketing Technology News: Forging MarTech with Big Data: Salesforce Eyes Tableau’s Big Data Expertise with $15.7 Billion DealThese new capabilities will grant IT teams:More Visibility: No two networks are the same. Environments are always changing. Cisco continuously collects relevant data from local networks and correlates it against the aggregate deidentified data set to create highly individualized network baselines. These baselines constantly learn and adapt as the number of devices, users and applications evolves, and as environments change.Greater Insights: Network complexity has grown beyond the human scale of processing. Cisco uses machine learning to correlate the immense amount of data coming from the network against the individualized network baselines to uncover the issues that will have the greatest impact on the network. This improves issue relevancy, alerting IT of the issues that matter most. It also discovers trends and patterns, so IT can pre-emptively identify issues before they become a problem.Guided Actions: Cisco uses machine reasoning algorithms and automated workflows to perform the logical troubleshooting steps that an engineer would execute to resolve a problem. This helps IT detect issues and vulnerabilities, analyze the root cause and execute corrective actions faster than ever.“As the pace of change and diversity of the environment continues to rapidly evolve, Cisco is committed to continually simplifying our solutions,” said Scott Harrell, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco’s Enterprise Networking Business. “Artificial intelligence and machine learning can enable businesses to efficiently discern which issues to prioritize, becoming more nimble and proactive. This will have a profound effect on network operations and the IT teams that run them. At Cisco, we’re future proofing our networks and the workforce through automation and intelligence.”Marketing Technology News: Domo IoT Cloud Now Integrates with Zendesk Data Platform to Deliver Better Customer ServiceReducing Complexity with the Multidomain NetworkTo help customers simplify the unprecedented complexity of modern IT, Cisco is building an architecture that spans every domain of the intent-based network — campus, branch, WAN, IoT, data center and cloud. Cisco has created solutions optimized to meet the unique needs of each of these networking domains. Today, Cisco is introducing new integrations, so users have a secure, consistent experience no matter where, when or how they connect. The new integrations allow for end-to-end:Network segmentation: The integration of Cisco SD-Access with Cisco SD-WAN and Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) makes it easier for IT teams to consistently authorize, onboard and segment users and devices across campus, branch, data center and cloud networks, even when users and applications change. Because of this segmentation, IT is able to safeguard against unauthorized access to sensitive data and critical applications.Application experience: Cisco now automatically conveys application requirements between the data center and the WAN, allowing the network to select the best path and prioritize traffic even if applications move or change. This allows IT teams to dynamically elevate application performance across the enterprise and branch.Pervasive security: As an industry leader in cybersecurity, Cisco is leveraging its security innovations across all domains. By extending the ability to detect threats in encrypted traffic across public clouds, and by protecting the campus, branch and WAN against threats, Cisco is providing the end-to-end security customers need.Cisco’s Ecosystem Drives InnovationAs the network becomes increasingly programmable, Cisco’s ecosystem of partners and developers has been crucial to drive innovation. To help organizations keep up with the relentless pace of change, Cisco DevNet, the company’s developer program, has introduced community-backed efforts to make adopting networking technology easy and accessible. This includes machine learning and artificial intelligence developer resources, which include use cases and resources to get started with new applications; the Cisco DevNet Automation Exchange, which contains a curated repository of code for all levels of network automation use cases; and the Cisco DNA Center Platform, which helps networking professionals and software developers alike to build new applications and integrations.Marketing Technology News: ATX Adds OTT Video Streaming Capabilities to Media Distribution SolutionAvailability, Licensing and ServicesCisco AI Network Analytics will be a standard part of Cisco DNA Assurance and will be available in the next version of Cisco DNA Center, generally available summer of 2019. In its next phase, it brings even more innovation, adaptation, and optimization for partners. There are three standalone versions of the IX Library, outlined below:Identity Library – IX is opening its expansive Identity products to all publishers, increasing the scope of Identity enriched inventory available on the trusted web. The Identity Library packages up Real-Time Identity (RTI) adapters in a simple installation, designed to operate seamlessly with a Publisher’s header bidding set up, agnostic to solutions already in place on the page.Wrapper Library – IX’s most popular product offering requires little integration work by publishers and also comes with the Identity Library. IX has a robust history in providing unique solutions to publishers at scale and are applying that same mentality to Publisher Sonar with an accountable, publisher-first design with no black boxes, fingerprinting or browser hacks. Publisher Sonar will be available in beta later this summer.Blackbird – With the introduction of Blackbird, IX is offering industry leading opt-out controls for consumers, via a simplified and persistent people-based opt out. Users can generate or upload a hash of their email address, which will be used to opt out the user from all people-based advertising. This opt out status will be federated to participating companies, with the goal of ensuring consumers are in control of how their data is used across all advertising experiences. Blackbird will be released in beta later this summer.“IX Open is always one of our most exciting weeks of the year because we get to share new products that will undoubtedly improve the programmatic ecosystem, while helping our partners achieve their goals more efficiently and effectively,” said Andrew Casale, President and CEO of Index Exchange. “With the consumer perception of ad tech on the decline largely driven by mainstream media attention, it’s imperative we put consumer trust at the forefront of any future solutions brought to market. The features we’ve launched do exactly this, and we look forward to putting the consumer first and pioneering a more trusted ecosystem on the road ahead.”This new evolution of Index Exchange’s Header Bidding and Identity technology is another step towards further democratizing digital advertising. Lucknow: Hours after Mayawati announced her plans of going solo in all future elections thus ending the SP-BSP alliance, the BJP took a swipe at Akhilesh Yadav, saying he has been “punished” by the BSP supremo as he “betrayed” his father and uncle for power.Uttar Pradesh BJP spokesperson Harish Srivastava said the SP-BSP alliance was an opportunistic coming together of the two parties just for the Lok Sabha polls. “BSP chief Mayawati sought votes from the Dalits and marginalised them. She cannot think about anyone beyond her family. Her history is full of betrayals. On the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav had termed corruption and nepotism as socialism. He should have thought 100 times before joining hands with Mayawati for opportunistic and selfish politics,” Srivastava said in a statement. He said the BJP “saved” Mayawati’s life and honour, established her in politics and made her chief minister. But she has been “disloyal to the BJP…how can she be loyal to the SP?”The English proverb ‘as you sow so shall you reap’ appropriately captures the goings-on in the state politics, he claimed.”For power, Akhilesh Yadav betrayed his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav. Now he has been punished by Mayawati’s betrayal,” he said. Earlier in the day, Mayawati declared her party in the future will contest all elections “small and big” on its own, ending the Bahujan Samaj Party-Samajwadi Party alliance forged for the Lok Sabha polls. The BSP chief, known to have made and broken many an alliance in her political journey, said her party had adhered to the ‘gathbandhan’ dharma in the interest of the country but was now forced to do a rethink. akhilesh yadavBJPHarish SrivastavaMayawati First Published: June 24, 2019, 7:47 PM IST

However, only Shivakumar turned up. He was subsequently detained and sent back to Bengaluru.Of the 14 MLAs from Karnataka who have resigned, 11 are from Congress and three from the JD(S). The ruling coalition faces the threat of losing its majority if the resignations of the rebel MLAs are accepted.
The Chuwi LapBook Air isn’t all just looks either. It is powered by an Intel Core m3 processor, so you can rest easy that this is no Atom pretender. There’s 8 GB of RAM inside and 128 of GB storage. Quite unexpectedly, it boasts of M.2 SSD expansion. Perhaps the only downside is that the 14.1-inch screen only goes as far as 1920×1080 pixels, but, then again, that is more than OK for some. Chuwi Hi9Not everyone needs an expensive iPad or Galaxy Tab tablet, but everyone deserves more than just some cheap, no name knockoff. Although some might too easily put Chuwi in the latter category, its upcoming Hi9 tablet proves they are worlds above that. The Hi9 has an 8.4-inch screen that boasts of a 2560×1600 resolution which you’ll rarely find in budget-friendly tablets. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor, no less, with two high performance Cortex-A73 cores and two power efficient Cortex-A53 cores. Equally surprising is the 4 GB of RAM inside, paired with 64 GB of internal storage. It even has dual band 2.4/.5 GHz Wi-Fi.Admittedly, it’s not exactly a looker when you flip it over, but you’ll most likely spend more time taking advantage of its hi-res 16:10 screen rather than staring at its matte back. Plus, a textured surface does usually mean less fingerprints and less accidental slips.Chuwi LapBook AirIf you really want something that looks nice but also has some bite, then Chuwi has its new LapBook Air for you. Go ahead and ridicule it for looking and sounding like a MacBook Air, because that’s really the case. Then again, Chuwi is hardly the first one to do so and, admittedly, the MacBook Air is something you’ll want to look at and hold a lot. And you might find yourself carrying it a lot, considering it only weight 1.3 kg, just a few grams shy of the MacBook Air’s own 1.35 kg. IFA 2017 presented a ton of new products, many of them premium and many of them premium priced. It might be too easy to think that the tech world is split between expensive high-end machines and cheap, underpowered gadgets. There exists, however, a wonderful world in between, where function, form, and price are in near perfect harmony. Chuwi, one of the more prolific Chinese consumer electronics manufacturers, proved the existence of that world by bringing to IFA three of its latest products that aim to deliver affordable performance, functionality, and design. Chuwi SurBookThe last of the trio is probably familiar to some, especially those who like to keep track of crowdfunding campaigns. If the LapBook Air is Chuwi’s MacBook-alike, then the successfully crowdfunded SurBook is its Surface contender. There is no shortage of Surface rivals and clones, so the SurBook faces a tough climb ahead. But if its Indiegogo campaign was any indication, it isn’t going to run out of prospective buyers.Truth be told, the Intel Celeron N3450 isn’t completely encouraging, though it is at least the semi-latest Apollo Lake generation. It does put the SurBook on par with the new breed of Windows 10 S laptops but offers a great deal more for less. The 12.3-inch screen, for example, not only boasts of a resolution of 2736×1824 but also of Sharp’s IGZO LCD technology. And yes,. there’s also a stylus included with 1,024 levels of pressure. There’s 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage inside. And, since it is a Surface–alike, it does have that kickstand that most now prefer over flimsy smart covers or no kickstands at all.AvailabilityChuwi didn’t talk about price or exact dates yet, but we can pretty much guess the general range of these devices. Chuwi’s smallest tablet, the Hi8, costs less than $150 right now, and that’s with Windows 10 on board. The Chuwi Hi9, which launches next month, could cost even less. The Chuwi LapBook Air will go on sale end of September and don’t be surprised if it does cost a little more than $300. You are, after all, getting a lot more from Chuwi’s most premium laptop yet. There is no word yet on when the Chuwi SurBook will go on sale. That’s because it will only be shipping to Indiegogo backers in two weeks. But if the pricing on the campaign hasn’t changed, expect the SurBook to cost around $500 when it does come out.
Story TimelineAndroid Auto Wireless reminded me of Google’s big Pixel mistakeThousands of Android apps violate child privacy, says studyView and control your Android phone from your PC: here’s how Today we’re taking a peek at the so-called Android virus, and how one might destroy said malicious entity. Before we go any further, know this: if you stick to Google Play, chances are you’re gonna be safe. Google’s got a fairly good handle on the “virus” game at this point, and any app you’ve installed from Google Play is going to be remotely removed if it’s found to be malicious. For everything else, there’s a quick process. Android devices are vulnerable to “infection” by malicious software (malware) in a similar manner to desktop and laptop devices. The methods for getting virus software to work on a mobile device is different from a desktop OS, but the end results can be rather similar. Malware’s been found to inflict serious harm on the end user in all manner of different ways over the past decade. How do I know I’m affected? You won’t necessarily always your device was the victim of software with bad intent. Some evil software is obvious, but most isn’t trying to draw any attention to itself. What most guides for “Android virus removal” don’t make clear is the following: You won’t always be able to take action.Malware on an Android device is:• Not always apparent• Not necessarily removable• Not usually in apps from Google Play• Not necessarily installed by the phone’s ownerBack in the day, a virus on a PC could sometimes be found by rifling through the computer’s files, finding the one called “INFECT.EXE”. Obvious stuff like that happened because the world was a bit more innocent in this realm. Decades after the birth of the personal computer, malware is extremely devious and difficult to detect. If it’s super seriousIf you believe you’re the victim of something as serious as Identity Theft – whether or not it be via your phone – you’ll want to contact the FTC and their Identity Theft task force. If you think your bank account’s been accessed, call your bank. If, however, you believe you’ve downloaded an app that’s making your phone go slow because it’s evil, there’s a simple solution. You can kill it.The simple kill stepsThere’s a simple way to axe malicious software on your device – just so long as it’s based in an app. A just-downloaded app that’s made a phone slow can be deleted simply. The user will want to do the following:Delete an app:1. Open app drawer.2. Hold finger on app in question.3. Drag app up to “Delete.”4. If no “Delete” is available, drag to “App Info.”5. In app info, tap “Delete App.”**Or Uninstall. That’s just as good as Delete app.If in app info an app (which you’ve downloaded) still only says “Disable” instead of “Delete,” or there’s an Uninstall button but it’s grayed out, you’ll have to go a step further. If you have an app that came with your phone that, here, only says “disable,” that means it was added by the manufacturer, and there’s basically a zero percent chance it’s causing your issues.Removing a “Disable only” app is simple so long as it truly is a 3rd-party app. If it is, you’ll be able to remove it (we hope) in Safe Mode.Safe Mode Boot:1. Push power button until on-screen prompt asks to turn your phone off.2. Hold finger on the Power Off button until a second prompt appears.3. This second prompt should ask to Reboot to safe mode.4. Tap OK.5. Safe Mode should appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen.Safe Mode Boot (Alternate):1. Push power button until on-screen prompt asks to turn your phone off.2. Hold finger on the Power button until a Samsung logo (or whatever odd logo you see) appears.3. Press and hold volume-down button, and hold until device boots up.4. Safe Mode should appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen. Safe Mode Delete:1. If at this point your phone runs a lot smoother, you’re on the right track. If your phone remains sluggish in Safe Mode, you might want to seek out your phone’s brand’s helpline.2. Open Settings3. Open Apps or Apps & Notifications4. Tap Show all apps, See all # apps, or Show apps5. In “App Info” go ahead and start digging around. If you have no idea what’s going on at this point, stop and restart your phone and go seek out your phone’s manufacturer’s help line.6. Find the malicious app.7. Delete the malicious app. If you get to the app in question and remain unable to access the Uninstall or Delete button, the app may have Device Administrator status. That’s bad news, but not unfixable.Destroy App Admin Status:1. Go to Settings.2. Go to Security.3. Go to Device Administrators or Device Admin Apps.4. Un-check the app in question.5. Return to app list and destroy! It’ll be good times had by all for those able to seek out and destroy their own demons in this manner. It’s a fun way to get noticed at family gatherings, too. In other words, don’t tell your Uncle Hambone you fixed your own phone – she’ll be calling you up every day from that point onward, for all inevitable problems forever. With great power comes great responsibility!
